Instant Pot Apple Cider (Refined Sugar-Free)

November 18, 2019

Apple Cider has been one of my favorite beverages for years, I usually make it in the crock-pot, (which is great too) but when I found out it's possible in the Instant Pot, I was so excited to make it! This Instant Pot Apple Cider will leave your house smelling like fall and Thanksgiving all at the same time. I love making it for Thanksgiving or around the holiday season. It's refined sugar-free and comes together in minutes!!

RECIPE Instant Pot Apple Cider (Refined Sugar-Free)

6-7 medium apples, can use a variety or all the same

2 whole cinnamon sticks

2 tsp whole cloves

2 whole star anise

1 knob of fresh ginger

1-2 oranges sliced

¼ c pure maple syrup

Apx 2 1/2 quarts of filtered water

  1. Wash and dry your apples really well, then cut the cores out of them. Cut into quarters and place in the bottom of your Instant Pot (I used a 3 qt Instant Pot but you could always double the recipe if needed and use a 6 or 8 qt Instant Pot

  2. Wash and slice oranges, place in your Instant Pot. Then add all your whole spices and pure maple syrup

  3. Now add your water in with all the other ingredients. You want to make sure when you add the water it covers all of the fruits and spices. I used about 2 1/2 quarts of water.

  4. Place the lid on your Instant Pot, set the valve to ‘sealing’ and set to ‘Manual’ high pressure for 15 minutes. When it’s done do a NPR (natural pressure release) for another 15 minutes)

  5. After the NPR put the valve on ‘release’ and release the extra steam.

  6. Open the lid and take a potato masher and mash the apples down a bit.

  7. Then take a large bowl and strainer and strain the liquid out of the instant pot, leaving the whole spices peels of fruits.

  8. After you’ve strained the liquid, serve warm! If it’s not sweet to your liking just add a little more maple syrup while it’s still hot. Enjoy!

*Use organic ingredients when feasible

*Try to use whole spices as much as you can, the powder form will make your cider grainy
