Ditch all the preservatives and added sugar in the store bought roll packages and make these for your Thanksgiving feast. They are light, fluffy, buttery, taste like a piece of heaven.

RECIPE Homemade Crescent Rolls

Ready in 45 minutes

Serves 12-14 people

Ingredients

4-5 cups organic whole wheat bread flour

1 ⅓ c warm water

1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

1 tsp salt

1 TBSP + ¼ c raw honey

2 eggs

4 TBSP melted butter (cooled)

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees

  2. You want your yeast to bloom first so in the bowl of your stand mixer add your water (make sure it’s warm but not too hot), active dry yeast, salt, and 1 TBSP raw honey. Gently mix together, then wait for about 10 minutes so that your yeast gets puffy and blooms.

  3. After your yeast mixture is ready you can add your eggs, melted butter, and the remaining honey (1/4 cup). Then start adding your flour, one cup at a time.

  4. Use your dough attachment as the dough comes together more, you will know when the dough is ready when it no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl and isn’t sticky to the touch. Remove from your stand mixer and knead it a few times into a ball.

  5. Let the dough rise for about 1 ½ - 2 hours. Once the dough has risen you are ready to roll it all out.

  6. Place a piece of parchment paper down and add flour, then add flour to your rolling pin. Roll into a circle that can be cut like a pizza. Cut into 8 individual pieces.

  7. Roll your dough up into a crescent shape and let rise for another 1 hour on your pan.

  8. Once the rolls have risen add 4 Tbsp. melted butter all over them. Then stick the pan in the oven and cook for 12-14 minutes or until the tops are slightly browned. Take them out of the oven and you have warm, buttery, soft dinner rolls. Worth every effort. Enjoy!
