Homemade Chocolate Hearts (refined sugar-free)

February 4, 2019

I love celebrating holidays with chocolate, and it seems Valentine's day is the perfect day to do that! These Homemade Chocolate Hearts are refined sugar-free and made with the highest quality of ingredients and taste. You can mix and match flavor combinations to your liking and I used these silicone molds to make these fun heart shapes!

RECIPE Homemade Chocolate Hearts

Ready in 20 minutes

Makes 12 chocolate hearts

Ingredients

1 c organic cacao wafers (or chocolate of choice)

5 TBSP raw honey or maple syrup (you can add more if you like it sweeter)

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp orange extract (optional)

Zest of 1 small orange (optional)

¼ c freeze dried strawberries or berry of choice

Heart silicone molds-I used these ones or you can use the kisses molds-these are them.

Preparation

  1. In a double boiler on medium/high heat in a medium pan heat your cacao wafer or chocolate of choice, raw honey, coconut butter and coconut oil. Let them completely melt together, then remove from the heat.

  2. Add your vanilla, and orange extracts, and orange zest. (You can use different flavors if you’d like, I just like the chocolate orange flavor that the extracts give)

  3. Mix together until smooth and creamy, then with a spoon fill your heart silicone molds.

  4. Crush your freeze dried strawberries and sprinkle them on top, it gives them a nice red color, perfect for your valentine!

  5. Then place molds in the fridge to set for about 1 hour. When done pop them out of the molds and they are ready to eat! Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. Enjoy!

*Use organic ingredients when feasible

Tips

It helps to have a tray or plate under the silicone molds so that it’s easy to transport them to the refrigerator.
