Fresh Garden Salsa

I never buy store salsa because I know I can make a batch from scratch with a few basic ingredients and some spices. This is an all time favorite recipe that I have made dozens of times for family parties, or on a chill summer night. Once you make it once you'll never go back!

RECIPE Fresh Garden Salsa

Ingredients

2 (15 oz cans) organic diced tomatoes or 6-8 fresh tomatoes

½ onion (diced)

2-3 cloves of garlic (minced or chopped)

1 bell pepper (chopped)

1-2 tsp sea salt

¼ tsp pepper

1 jalapeno (for extra spice leave the seeds in)

1 handful of fresh cilantro

1 handful fresh basil leaves

Fresh lime juice

Preparation

  1. If you have fresh tomatoes then wash them well and dice them. In a large food processor add all of your ingredients.

  2. Pulse until it gets to the consistency you want it. If you like it more chunky then only pulse it about 3-4 times. If you like a thinner consistency salsa then pulse it for longer.

  3. Refrigerate in a mason jar or eat it as it!

Yields: Makes about 1 quart of salsa

*Use organic ingredients when feasible

Tips

*If you prefer a hotter salsa then add another jalapeno

*If you have fresh tomatoes add them to your food processor until it’s 3/4 full (about 6-8 fresh tomatoes)
