Supplies You’ll Need
Essential oils of choice
Dried herbs or flowers (optional)
1 Wooden skewer
Start by taking your 2 lb melt and pour soap base and cut in into cubes. Half of the soap block will yield 6 rectangle soap bars. If you melt the whole thing it will yield 12 soap bars. The smaller you cut it the better it will melt in the double boiler.
Add to your double boiler on medium heat and melt. Use your wooden skewer to stir it every so often. The wooden skewer makes it nice after cleanup because you can just throw it away but if you don’t have one you can just use a spoon to mix.
Once the soap base is completely melted turn off the heat and add essential oils, carrier oil, and dried herbs or flowers. I used dried lavender flowers and dried mint leaves. Stir to incorporate.
Once it is all mixed together pour the liquid into your silicone molds. This is where you can get creative. Use different silicon molds, or essential oils to make it the way you like it. These can become so fun and so cute!
Once they are in your silicone molds put them in the fridge for 1 hour until set. Then pull them out and pop them out of the molds.
Now it’s time to decorate your soap bars. Use scraps of fabric, ribbon, twine, whatever you like to make it cute.
These are seriously so cute for any occasion and the soap is really moisturizing!
For the honeycomb mold I added 2 TBSP raw honey and 2 TBSP oats in the soap base. Oats and honey are a great combination if you struggle with eczema or dry skin because they are really exfoliating and natural.
Spring Soap Versions:
To your melt and pour soap base add 15 drops of Lemon essential oils and 5 drops of grapefruit essential oils and 1 tsp of poppyseeds, use 1/4 tsp tumeric for coloring, stir and pour into your molds.
Gerranium & Lime:
For a more flowery citrus smell add 15 drops of geranium essential oil and 5 drops of lime essential oil. Mix into your melt and pour soap base them pour into your silicone molds.
For a complete citrus scented soap add 10 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of lime essential oil, 12-15 drops of orange essential oil, and 5 drops of grapefruit essential oil
Honey Oatmeal Combo:
For a honey and oatmeal combo soap add 2-4 TBSP of organic rolled oats, and 2-4 TBSP of raw honey. The oats are great for exfoliation. I like to pair this with cinnamon bark essential oil. About 7-10 drops-it is very potent!
